SUMMARY:EVIDENCE BASED INJURY PREVENTION IN RUNNERS - Cape Town
DESCRIPTION:[spoiler title='Important Information']\n\nEvidence Based Injur
y Prevention in Runners- Bridging the Rehab to Performance Gap with Glen
Robbins and Ben Matthew\; Cape Town\; 3-4 March 2018\n\n14 CEUs applied

er title='Course Material']\n\n\n\nDo you want to reduce the injury risk o
f your runners?\n\nDo you want to improve their performance following reha
b?\n\nParticipation in running is at an all time high. Running however\, i
 s a high-risk activity with an injury rate\, ranging from 50 – 85 % duri
ng any 12 month period. Integrating Strength training in the rehabilitatio
n of runners can REDUCE injury risk and IMPROVE performance.\n\nThis high
ly practical course will give you the skills and knowledge to integrate mo
vement screening and strength training tools in the rehabilitation of inju
red runners.\n\nThis course provides a unique opportunity to integrate an
evidence based approach to injury prevention and performance enhancement i
n the management of running injuries.\n\nYou will explore common biomechan
ical deficits found in injured runners\, using validated movement screenin
g tools and be provided with an overview of utilising strength training fo
r prevention of overuse injuries in runners.\n\nThere will be a particular
focus on functional screening and movement analysis to guide exercise pre
scription and progression. Various training models and exercise regimes (S
ingle leg training\, Posterior Chain Strength\, Hip Stabilisation\, Dynami
c Core Strength training) will be explored with a special emphasis on pra
ctical application and current research trends in the prevention of overus
e injuries.\n\nThis course is limited – book early to secure your place.
\n\nAudience\nThe course has been designed for physiotherapists\, osteopat
hs\, sports therapists\, running coaches\, personal trainers and other hea
lth care professionals who are involved in the management of running injur
ies.\n\n\n\n\nLearning Objectives :\n\n\n\n1.Understand the common biomech
anical and movement pattern dysfunction of injured runners.\n\n2. Develop
practical skills for functional assessment and movement analysis in runn
ers for risk stratification and to guide exercise progression.\n\n3. Eyplo
re important strength training principles and safe exercise prescription o
f advanced exercises and integrate evidence based injury prevention tools
as part of lower limb rehabilitation in runners\n\n4. Develop practical
skills and clinical reasoning processes to apply strength training method
s in the late stage rehab of runners with practical case studies\n\nNote:
Each activity will consist of theoretical and practical components.\n\nPle
ase bring shorts to the course for the practical sessions. Pre-reading ar
ticles will be sent before the course.\nDay 1 – Movement Screening &amp\
