 AND ANKLE COURSE - Assessment\, Diagnosis\, Treatment and Rehabilitation\n
 This course will present an update on the functional anatomy of the foot a
 nd ankle and how this influences the choice of treatment and management ou
 tcomes for foot and ankle pathology and injury. A practical protocol to ma
 naging acute ankle injuries will also be presented and discussion around s
 everal case studies and treatment regimes will also take place.\n\nThe tre
 atment and rehabilitation of more complex and long standing foot and ankle
  injuries with a special input into "weak and unastable" ankles will also 
 be presented incorporating foot wear\, orthotics\, braces and taping and r
 ehabilitation strategies. This course is practical and easy to implement i
 n your practice and will assist you in making correct and informative deci
 sions regarding your patients' foot and ankle problems.\n\nWHY DO THE FOOT
  AND ANKLE COURSE?\n\nHelene is foremost a clinician who is passionate abo
 ut evidence based clinical practice.  The course aims give tips and guida
 nce based on the clinical knowledge she has amassed and her on-going resea
 rch.\n\nThe workshop will kick off with an update on the functional anatom
 y of the foot and ankle and how this influences the choice of treatment\, 
 management and functional outcomes.\n\nHelene wants to assist physiotherap
 ists with their clinical reasoning in grading ankle sprains\, assessing ac
 ute ankle injuries and concomitant injuries. We will discuss the most usef
 ul clinical tests\, the importance of the Ottawa Ankle and foot rules in e
 xcluding fractures\, and how to assess a patient⁙s functional performanc
 e\, inclusive or return to sport.\n\nAn evidence based protocol in managin
 g acute ankle injuries will be presented and various treatment regimens wi
 ll be discussed. We will discuss when and for how long an ankle should be 
 immobilised and the immediate treatment following an ankle sprain.\n\nA co
 mprehensive rehabilitation workshop will address the important components 
 to be included in a rehabilitation regime. Treatment and rehabilitation of
  complex and long standing foot and ankle pathologies such as recurrent an
 kle sprains\, ankle instability and impingements\, osteochondral lesions a
 nd a short introduction on midfoot sprains\, plantar heel pain\, and the a
 cquired flat foou and 〜weak and unstable" ankles will be preseoted.\n\nS
 he will discuss/ debate foot wear\, orthotics\, preventative braces and ta
 ping. This is in essence a hands-on/ practical/ interactive course (and us
