SUMMARY:THE ADULT HIP PATIENT COURSE - Johannesburg
DESCRIPTION:
\nThe Adult Hip Patient
Course with Glen Robbins and Benoy Matthew\; Camelot International\, Hough
ton\, Johannesburg\; 24-25 February 2018\nCourse times: 8.45am to 5pm on
day 1 &amp\;2 \n
\n\n
\n\n\n\nAD
ULT HIP COURSE INFO\n\n Do you find differential diagnosis with some hip
and groin presentations difficult?\n Want a clear understanding on how b
est to approach FAI\, Cam or Pincer Hip Impingements?\n Are you frustrat
ed with hip pain patients\, who fail to progress\, keep coming back with
recurring problems?\n Are you up to date on the current management of FA
I and Labral pathology?\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nCheck out the video testimonials fro
m the Adult Hip Course in Dubai Aug 2017 course here.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n“Emi
ly is a 32 year old office worker and regular gym-goer. She had right ant
erior hip pain 10 months ago which was diagnosed as hip flexor strain and
it responded favourably with previous physio. Her right hip pain has ret
urned\nsince she started cycling to work and she has been referred back to
physio. Her recent pelvis X-ray has shown acetabular cross-over sign sug
gestive of pincher FAI in both her hips.”\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n• How do you
clinically determine if the X-ray results are the true source of her symp
toms and not an incidental finding?\n\n• What are her treatment options?
What is the best rehab strategy?\n\n• Would you consider a surgical ref
erral?\n\nLike a lot of clinicians\, you may see patients like Emily prese
nting with anterior hip and groin pain in private practice\, sports medic
ine clinics or a primary care setting.\n\nThe hip and groin area is often
viewed as a “black box” because of the complex anatomy and overlapping
pain referral patterns.\n\nWhether it is the week-end warrior\, yoga enth
usiast or the competing triathlete\, accurate diagnosis and management of
hip and groin pain can be challenging.\n\nConditions like hip impingemen
t syndromes\, labral tears\, chondral lesions and ligamentum teres injuri
es are being increasingly identified as cause of hip and groin pain in the
physically active population between the ages of 18-45. Although\, vario
us treatment methods are reported there is a lack of consensus on the rol
e of conservative management.\n\nContent:\nThis one day workshop is design
ed for all therapists who work with physically active patients with anter
ior hip and groin pain. The aim of the course is to provide a clear\, hone
st and evidence based look\, combined with more than 25 years of joint cl
inical experience at what does and does not work in the assessment and ma
nagement of the active hip patient.\n\nA key goal would be for you to lea
ve with things that both simplify the hip for you and help differential d
iagnoses what is going on\, both articular and extra-articular pathologies
of the hip.\n\nThis hands on course will consider the evidence and how t
his has been integrated into practice. The active treatment section will
look at manual techniques in the management of the adult hip patient and
comprehensive rehabilitation of articular and extra-articular pathologies
.\n\nIt is designed to be highly practical and full of clinical tips that
you can put into practice immediately.\n\nWhat will you gain by attending
the course ?\n\n- An overview of the complex interaction of the groin and
the hip joint including femoro-acetabular impingement\, labral lesions\,
extra-articular pathologies and tendinopathy.\n\n- A detailed and a system
atic physical examination will be covered using a novel and evidence base
d tool (The layering concept) for the assessment of the adult hip patient
and a solid understanding of differential diagnosis\n\n- Understanding of
the biomechanical and developmental factors leading to symptomatic FAI a
nd clinical insights on managing complex presentation\n\n- Practical appli
cation of manual therapy in the management of hip and groin pain\n\n- Over
view of Rehab principles following Hip Arthroscopy and Conservative  Mana
gement of Articular and Extra-articular Pathologies\n\n- Integration of th
e theory\, current evidence and treatment tools with case studies\n\n&nbsp
