 urse Syllabus\; By Steven Goldstein\n\nThe Fascial Therapy 1 Course\n\nT
he Fascial Therapy 1 course is designed to introduce the beginner as well
as the experienced practitioner to a broad spectrum of myofascial releasin
g methods that encompass all soft-tissue.\n\nFascia is the form that encas
es and surrounds all soft-tissue\, creating compartments\, containers and
scaffolding to anchor tissue. With this understanding\, basic applied meth
ods can be adapted and applied to this form to create efficient rapid chan
ge.\n\nFascial Therapy introduces direct and indirect methods employing ac
tive and passive techniques that utilize sensory receptor activation\, und
erstanding the autonomic system response that results in the application o
f these various techniques.\n\nEmphasis is placed upon assessment patterns
through fundamental palpation of lines of myofascial tension. These inclu
de cardinal lines\; anterior\, posterior and lateral\, as well as four arm
line (Myers) are palpated and then technique applied. These line have are
as that are not usually palpated\, and it is these areas (intermuscular se
ptums for example) that often result in not achieving the desired clinical
outcomes for a practitioner.\n\nUnderstanding the importance of presence
and intent as clinical ‘tools’.\nUnderstanding the response and import
ance of the autonomic nervous system in relation to systemic discharges an
 d soft-tissue release.\nInstructed is the use of ‘ease-bind’ osteopath
ic assessment protocol for clinical decision-making\, palpation and techni
que.\n\nFocus is also placed on joint accessory motion and the important i
nterface with myofascial.\nThus joint leverage compression and tension tec
hniques are introduced that allow for rapid change to the surrounding caps
ular tissue.\n\nLigament technique options as well as locations of applica
tion are instructed.\nIndirect application in the form of the ‘Two Point
’ is instructed and protocol to release transverse planes are practiced.
Within this protocol anterior neck muscles\, supra and infra-hyoid muscle
s will be palpated and treated.\n\nAnd integrated into this system of body
work is the use of modified Muscle Energy Technique MET\, used to treat
‘bind’ directional barriers\, enhance receptor response and assess mus
cular inhibition.\n\nThe last module will be a clinical practice session\,
where clients\, friends or family are invited so as to experience the ins
truction and new skills acquired by participants. This is also a time to i
nstruct more complexity and showcase material for Fascial Therapy 2.\n\nBy
the completion of this course\, the practitioner will have a new way of c
linical thought\, have new application skills that use much less force and
effort to achieve desirable effects\, reducing pain sensitivity usually e
xperience by more forceful applications.\n\nDay 1 Direct Applications to M
