 with Karine Bezuidenhout.\n\nThis course is an overview of modern Yoga\, d
 iscussing the benefits and understanding the physiology behind why it migh
 t be beneficial for you\, your patients and clients. It will aim to facili
 tate an understanding of the main components of the practice and discuss t
 he research as well.\n\nAs a physio / health care worker / movement teache
 r / bio / yoga / pilates / Gyro therapist\, you will have a deeper underst
 anding of the evidence-based benefits of yoga as well as understanding whe
 n to refer patients and how to guide them to explore the style of yoga the
 y will probably benefit from most. This will not enable you to teach yoga\
 , but enable you to guide your patients efficiently\, as well as encouragi
 ng you to interact with this practice.\n\nAs a Yogi\, you will have a deep
 er understanding of the most basic components of yoga and the anatomical a
 nd physiological effect it has on our bodies. You should have a better und
 erstanding to guide your patients / clients towards a pain-free and benefi
 cial practice.\n\nModule 1\; Wed 3rd June\; 9am - 12noon\n\nOutline\nTheor
 etical discussion\, exploring the history\, the benefits and the considera
 tions in practising yoga.\n\nObjectives\nTo understand the practice of Yog
 a and all the components essential thereto\;\nHow / why may yoga benefit y
 our patient\;\nUnderstand the basic postures\, breathwork\, chants and med
 itations\;\nDiscuss the research as well as anecdotal and traditionally be
 lieved benefits\;\nAn overview of Yoga philosophy\;\nto enable both physio
  and yoga practitioners to use this tool for our patients / clients as par
 t of the multi-disciplinary medical team\;\nUnderstand when to use yoga as
  a tool with caution and how to specifically guide specific patients.\n\nT
 ake home messages\nYoga is a living\, changing practice.\nIt can be practi
 ced in a way that resonates with and benefits every individual.\nA deeper 
 understanding of the practice to enable both physio and yogi to explore th
 e practice in a meaningful way.\n\nModule 2\; Fri 5th June\; 9am - 12noon\
 n\nA practical module. Drawing attention to parallels in yoga and physio /
  medical treatments\, paying attention to possible harmful poses for certa
 in conditions as well as most useful poses for specific rehab protocols.\n
 \nObjectives\nExperience a 1 hour yoga class with all the components of yo
 ga in the class.\nBeing able to understand Yoga jargon in physiotherapy an
 d medical terms.\nUnderstand the anatomy of basic yoga poses.\nBe able to 
 guide patients through specific ques to use within their yoga practice as 
 part of their rehab process.\nBe able to guide patients on which poses to 
 modify to support their rehab process.\nFor Yogis\, to understand why cert
 ain poses hurt and why sometimes the traditional ques hurt more\, enabling
  yogis to que patients more accurately and safely.\n\nTake home messages\n
 Understand that yoga has a significant role to play in our patient care\;\
 nYoga is a healthy lifestyle that can support any medical condition.\nYoga
  is a practice that can be of great benefit in our continued care.\nUnders
 tand the diversity in teachers and styles and movement practices.\nIt’s 
 worthwhile to build a relationship with local yoga teacher / physio.\nThin
 k clinical\, but with open mind and heart.\n\nModule 3\; Sun 7th June\; 9a
 m - 12noon\n\nOutline\nA practical 3 hour module. This module is suitable 
 to do as a stand alone module. \n\nExplore the familiar poses of yoga with
  attention to specific components to serve as a tool for rehab.\n\nObjecti
 ves\nAttendees will be able to prescribe a small yoga sequence or a specif
 ic yoga pose with attention to specific ques\, to serve as a rehab exercis
 e. Discussed under the following rehab protocols.\nLumber\, thoracic\, cer
 vical spine rehab\;\nShoulder\, wrist\, elbow rehab\;\nHip\, knee\, ankle 
 rehab.\;\nNeuro-fascial mobility techniques.\n\nAttendees will have access
  to the library of exercise clips discussed on the course and to share wit
 h patients for a deeper understanding of the basic yoga poses to be applie
 d and to better serve specific patient’s needs.\n\nTake home messages\nW

 liance to do physio rehab consistently as well as help with accuracy and e
