Corina Avni Past Pax Feedback;

I thoroughly enjoyed Corina’s Womens Health Concepts course! It’s a great starting point for anyone wanting to start working in WH. Corina is an animated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable presenter. Her deep understanding and passion for women’s health is obvious. She has a knack for making complicated concepts understandable. Thanks to her and Club Physio for keeping us learning during lockdown! I’m excited to learn more and am looking forward to doing some face to face women’s health courses post-covid19 – Claire

The Club-Physio Course by Corina Avni on Concepts in Pelvic Function and Women’s Health was absolutely incredible. Corina has such a beautiful way of simplifying and explaining concepts ensuring you will never forget what you have learnt. The course covered many various aspects of pelvic function and really broadened my knowledge. Thank you for producing such an amazing course and presenting it with such passion – Kara

This is the 2nd of Corina’s masterclasses I’ve done and I enjoyed it so much. She pushes you to thinking more laterally and wants you to be better in your field. She works really hard to give you up to date research and makes you laugh along the way. Highly beneficial and inspiring – Fiona

It was great to have the opportunity to meet Corina in this online women’s health course. With a lot of irreverence she’s able to simplify and transmit her excellent knowledge in this field of physio, making you more and more interested in the topic! – Priscilla

To be honest this was my first online course . I am looking forward to taking more online women’s health courses. The experience of this class has been nothing but positive 😊 The course was everything you said it would be Corina – it was really fortunate for me to meet you through this course. Thanks Club physio. Shagufta

Course material

FEMALE SEXUAL FUNCTION AND DYSFUNCTION – A MASTERCLASS WITH CORINA AVNI – via zoom meeting;

Outline
We begin with an overview of female sexual function before familiarising ourselves with the latest terminology to describe symptoms of sexual dysfunction. In anatomy we review expected normal findings, and compare them to congenital and acquired complications.

The DSM5 and validated questionnaires provide the framework for a range of sexual dysfunction diagnoses. Conservative (and non-conservative) treatment follows. We then apply the theory to a variety of populations, to predict likely patient presentations (e.g. young married women, postnatal women). The impact of major life events (e.g. mode of delivery, menopause) on sexual function is discussed, as is the impact of cancer, depression, anxiety and chronic pain. Cultural, religious and psycho-emotive considerations are also addressed.

 Overview and Background
 Symptoms of female sexual dysfunction
 Anatomy of female reproductive system ; o Normal o Congenital and acquired complications
 Sexual dysfunction diagnoses o DSM5, ICD10, ICSM o Validated questionnaires
 Conservative treatment of female sexual dysfunction
 Populations o Predicted presentations
 Nulliparous (never been pregnant)
 Parous (has child/ren)
 Menopausal
 Active
 Life events o Things that happen impacting on sexual function
 Co-morbid pathology o Pathology elsewhere causing sexual dysfunction
 Cultural, religious and psycho-emotive considerations

Objectives
 to appreciate the multi-systemic experience that results in healthy female sexual function;
 to describe the likely presentation of 4 different sexual disorders;
 to identify patients in whom sexual dysfunction is likely to be prevalent;
 to explain the impact of co-morbidities on female sexual function;
 to understand cultural, religious and psycho-emotive impacts on female sexual function.

Take home messages
1. Healthy female sexual function is a multi-systemic experience;
2. Different sexual disorders carry different signatures or characteristics, based on drivers of dysfunction;
3. Identify high risk patients – and ASK;
4. Co-morbidities impact on female sexual function;
5. Cultural, religious and psycho-emotive considerations cannot be ignored in the management of female sexual dysfunction.
