THE MODERN CLINICAL PILATES COURSE 23 – 25 Aug 2019
Sea Point Pilates Studio, 110 Regent Rd, Sea Point, Cape Town, 8060
Course times : 8AM – 4.30PM on all 3 days
The first day covers recent research of Motor control of the upper and lower quadrants, how to implement the relevant stability exercises, how to measure dysfunction with real-time Ultrasound, Pressure biofeedback unit, dynamometry, and EMG. And then how to improve dynamic joint stability with therapeutic exercise with the aid of the above ‘tools’ as well as taping techniques, including Dynamic Tape.
We touch on the History and Principles of Pilates, followed by a musculoskeletal assessment to establish a baseline measure of musculoskeletal status, in order to direct the treatment, and against which to compare at a later date.
The next 2 days are basic pilates exercises across all pieces of equipment (Mat, Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac, Spine Corrector). We finish with Case studies to consolidate theory and practice, during which students must demonstrate good rationale and an understanding of exercises most relevant to the pathology in question.
