The Women’s Health course has been developed to provide a comprehensive health and education program for physios, chiros, osteos, nurses, midwives, doctors and any other qualified therapists working or wanting to work in the women’s health field. It is aimed at trained doctors and therapists but any / most doctors or health professionals working in women’s health are welcome to attend. The course is designed to be engaging, informative, interactive and practically based and encourages the involvement of all participants.

The 3 full days of training combines information delivery with opportunities for interactive and practical learning together with fully supervised practical sessions to develop practical assessment, manual therapy and rehabilitation skills.

Course Objectives: By the end of the course the participant will gain further understanding in:

– Assessment and rehabilitation of the lumbar pelvic spine applying movemeot analysis & correction.
– Being confident in the assessment of the pelvic floor including differentiation of superficial and deep pelvic floor muscles
– Recognising potential disorders of pelvic floor muscle over/under-activity, and applying this to treat chronic pelvic pain in men and women and applying it to treat bladder and bowel dysfunction, prolapse and sexual dysfunction.
– Improved understanding of Female anatomy & physiology including urinary & sexual function
– Assessment and manual therapy techniques for the pelvic floor muscles, and neural tissue, including the pudendal nerve
– Relevant assessment and clinical reasoning skills
– Advanced manual therapy, movement integration and pain treatment techniques
– Updated clinical literature review
– Understanding of current medical management
Specific areas covered:
– Functional Anatomy of Pelvic Pain, Pelvic Floor Anatomy & differentiation
– Internal vaginal +/-rectal exam & mapping out of structures
– Functional anatomy of the Pelvic floor
– Internal vaginal/rectal exam continued with functional evaluation of PFM including lumbo-pelvic cylinder
– Case study & pain, trigger points & neural differentiation
– Reliable pain provocation/load transfer tests
– Identifying dysfunction, palpation for under/over activity and neural differentiation
– Movement System Balance
– Assessment movement system
– Making the changes- Treatment doses including case study putting together treatment techniques exam in clinical settings, indications/ application Theory & Practical

 

A Club Physio Courses registration includes:
• Most supplies needed for the course as suggested by the instructor; you may be requested to bring along some equipment needed for the course and in your clinic thereafter.
• An electronic course manual (you can choose to print it out or save and bring it along on your laptop / tablet; please bring extra writing paper should you wish to make extra notes;
• Tea / coffee / snacks on each day;
• A signed certificate of attendance.
