Course material

In the HOW TO MANAGE CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME (CFS) IN THE POST-COVID 19 PANDEMIC; AN ONLINE SEMINAR COURSE, Dr Perrin will show how his model explains the pathological dysfunction of the neuro-lymphatic system in CFS and how post covid 19 patients will be affected and potentially suffer from CFS.

The proposed full day online seminar will be a condensed version of a seminar approved for CPD/ CME in the UK and the USA and accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, which has been taught to clinicians around the world. It is designed for any practitioner interested in the diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) and Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS).

It will explain the scientific basis that underpins the physical diagnostic techniques used by Dr Perrin over the past 30 years on over 2,000 patients and also show how to practically incorporate these techniques into clinic as a screening tool in the diagnosis of  CFS/ME and FMS. The findings of a blind controlled NHS study demonstrating the efficacy of these physical signs as an aid to diagnosis were published in The British Medical Journal’s online edition BMJ Open Nov 2017. (Hives L et al.  bmjopen-2017-017521)

The online seminar will focus on the advances in science showing recent visible evidence of the existence of a neuro-lymphatic (glymphatic) pathway (Iliff J et al 2012) and a dural lymphatic system that was only confirmed in humans in 2017

(Absinta, Ha et al. 2017).  Plus, it will explain how neurolymphatic disturbance due to sympathetic dysfunction causes excess lactic acid leading to myalgia and fatigue supporting earlier research findings. (He J. et al. 2013.)

The online seminar is designed to practically help the clinician improve their diagnostic skills in the field of CFS/ME and FMS.  Dr Perrin will demonstrate and teach the participants how to use validated and established  CFS/ME and  FMS consultation forms plus how to  examine the physical signs that will help the clinician to screen for, and give a reasonably accurate severity score and prognosis of these diseases. Thus, improving the clinical care of CFS/ME and FMS patients.

ONLINE SEMINAR OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Use the techniques demonstrated to screen patients for CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) in their clinical practice.
  2. Be able to identify aetiological and maintaining factors that may have predisposed the patient and increased their susceptibility to develop CFS/ME and FMS.
  3. Accurately assess the level of severity of the patient’s illness and calculate the prognosis for their condition.
