Dr. Yelverton  qualified with a Masters Degree in chiropractic from the Technikon Witwatersrand, now the University of Johannesburg in 2000. He commenced work as lecturer in 1999, and has been Head of Department at the University of Johannesburg since 2001. He has supervised over 70 masters dissertations, and has presented both nationally and internationally.

He has been the past Regional Chairman of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa, the Chiropractic Internship Co-ordinator for Gauteng, and has served on the Standards Generating Body for Chiropractic and the Education Committee of the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. He was elected to the Professional Board of Chiropractic and Osteopathy under the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa in 2008, and has been the Chairman of the Board since then. He has also maintained a private practice in a multi-disciplinary environment since 2000.
