Ultrasonographer: April 2000 – present (September 2014).

Majority of time currently spent at Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics in Rosebank, Johannesburg, performing all musculo-skeletal examinations to assess severity of muscle, tendon and ligaments injuries. In addition, the work involves various vascular examinations to assess deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease. The Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics in Rosebank is the medical referral centre for the Golden Lions Rugby Union. Players are assessed on a week to week basis as to the extent of injury and return to play estimations.

Lectured on the sonographic appearances of the post-operative rotator cuff at the Advanced MSK Ultrasound Course held in Johannesburg in August 2014.

Received full accreditation as a musculoskeletal ultrasonographer from the South African Sports Medicine Association January 2010 to date September 2014.

Presented a workshop on Achilles Tendinopathy at the 2011 International South African Sports Medicine Congress in Sandton, Johannesburg. Conducted 3 MSK and cardiac ultrasound courses at Steve Biko Academic Hospital during 2010. Conducted various musculo-skeletal ultrasound courses between April 2007 and September 2014 at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein for the Masters in Sports Medicine Course, in Kimberley for the Griqua Rugby Currie Cup team doctors and at Radiology Practices in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban.

Included in the on call medical team for the international rugby test between the Springboks – New Zealand rugby game at FNB stadium Oct 2012, Samoa and South Africa, June 2007 in Johannesburg, the World Cup Cricket 2003, the World U21 Rugby Tournament 2002 and. Also included in the diagnostic medical support team for international and local sports events, including Springbok, Protea, Bafana-Bafana, Super 14 and Currie Cup events.

In addition, sessional work at two radiology practices in Gauteng and one in Gaberone (May 2000 – 2006), Botswana, performing the full range of ultrasound examinations covering obstetrics, gynaecology, abdominal, vascular, cardiac and musculo-skeletal work mannligapotek.com.

Part-time lecturer (since 1990) for the sonography and chiropractic students at the University of Johannesburg, as well as examiner (since 1997) at the University of Johannesburg for B. Tech Ultrasound course.
