About Myself
I am a positive and enthusiastic person in both my personal capacity, and in my professional capacity as a Physiotherapist. I have worked hard over the last 10 years to build my skills as competent and effective Physiotherapist. I have worked in almost every field of Physiotherapy since qualifying but have found my place in the field of neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy and men’s health physiotherapy. I am busy completing my PhD on the side effects after Prostate Cancer
Personally, I have found enjoyment in completing triathlons, completing my 4th Ironman 70.3 in Durban in 2019. Training for these events has been an interesting journey, not only in self-discovery but also in helping me gain a better understanding of my patients. The community we live in is a very active one and most of the general musculoskeletal patients I treat are sporting injuries.
I have been a member of our physiotherapy society, The South African Society of Physiotherapy since I was a student back in 2005. I started getting involved in various committees from 2014. I was initially involved on a provincial (state) level but for the last 3 years I have been the National Chair for the Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy Group (formerly the Orthpopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy Group), a member organization of IFOMPT. This role has enabled me to travel to international conferences on a yearly basis and connect with other physio’s from around the globe. It has been refreshing to see that South Africa is absolutely on par with international trends and best evidence practice in Physiotherapy.
I am a dedicated and passionate individual with a will to succeed in whatever I do.
